Most people are very timid and unsure about how they should deal with a prophet. A true prophet is never worried about being mistaken or misunderstood. We do not teach masses, as masses cannot be discipled. We never preach for crowds, because our word is far too controversial and liberating for the common man to bear. True prophets preach for change. And those who are attracted to the prophetic have reached a point in life where change is compulsory. Every prophet carries a bit ofa peculiarity about himself or herself that any onlooker can readily spot. That strangeness is very normal.
Of all of the ministry gifts, there is none other that is as subject to attack and ridicule as the prophet is. One of the reasons for this is because common man really does not have any way to measure the validity of the spoken word ofthe Lord, until that Word has come to pass. Under the Old Covenant, prophets who declared the Word of the Lord, especially as it related to the coming Messiah, The Lord Jesus Christ, died hundreds of years before their prophecy came to life. What does that mean? Those prophets spent an entire life of being called false, liar, charlatan, and swindlers.
Those who did not understand the power of prophecy and the accurateness of the Word of the Lord could easily discount the prophet’s word. Nonetheless, God’s Word is still so. And whether the Word which is declared manifests in your generation or the next, it is still the Word. Know this: that the Word of the Lord will not return void. Unlike some of the other ministry gifts, the prophet never needed the legitimization of the people in order to function. God speaks, we hear, we speak. The progression is as simple as that. That sequence feels absolutely comfortable for every mature prophet.
What we hear is what we speak. However, there is a missing element, a protocol on how to speak, and when to speak, and how to disseminate the Word of the Lord in the most proper and excellerlt way. That, my friend, does not come just because you may know how to prophesy. That intuitive skill comes from years of training and being trained in the art of hearing the voice of the Lord.
29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
1 Corinthians 14:29-33 (KJV)
